In certain regions, Crop Fire coverage may be worth considering, as it provides extra protection through dry summer conditions. Crop Fire is a 60-day policy that covers fire damage in standing grain and grain in transit up to 100 miles.  It covers various crops depending on location.

Crop Fire policies can stand-alone or serve as an add-on to your existing Crop Hail policy.  For example, if the insured's Hail policy coverage is $700/acre and their Fire policy coverage is $600/acre, then their total fire coverage will be $1300/acre.  Payment from Federal Crop Insurance (due to fire damage), farm blankets, etc. also needs to be accounted for in determination of coverage.  Fire losses cannot exceed the actual value of the crop.
