Professional Liability

If the professional services or advice your business provides to others has the potential to result in a loss to your client, one of them could decide to hold you legally responsible.  Professional liability insurance, also known as errors and omissions insurance (E&O) covers your business in those situations.  Negligence, misrepresentation, violation of good faith, fair dealing, and inaccurate advice are some of the types of suits that are covered.

Professional liability insurance will pay the cost of legal defense against claims and the payment of judgments against you, up to the limit of the policy.  Typically coverage does not extend to non-financial losses or losses caused by intentional or dishonest acts.  Policies will generally have a deductible ranging from $1,000 to $25,000.

This coverage may be included in a Commercial Package Policy (CPP) as an endorsement.
